Process Design

Integrated within the IPDS engineering team, the Process Department supports the Feasibility Analysis (pre-FEED) and Detailed Process Engineering phases (FEED stage) and leads necessary process safety reviews such as HazOp and FMEA to ensure compliance with applicable legislation all while integrating seamlessly with all other disciplines involved in the project.

During the Feasibility Analysis our engineers will examine Client's opportunities or concepts and develop appropriate process design solutions. These solutions are then actioned upon by the IPDS engineers and are translated into practical and executable scope documents via Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Heat & Mass Balances and P&IDs. Equipment, instrumentation and control requirements are then extracted as applicable to each process.

During Detailed Design our engineers are able to produce detailed process engineering calculations (hydraulic/pneumatic analysis, equipment sizing etc.) along with generating the relevant datasheets and developing P&IDs. Our engineers are also able to develop Control Strategy and Functional Specifications, hydraulic surge analysis and relief studies; including scenario evaluation, relief device sizing and specification and calculation reports.

Once the Detailed Design phase has been completed; preparation of standard operating procedures and commissioning programmes can be proposed. Our experienced engineers can then provide hands-on start-up support, encompassing all project phases from inception through to full, beneficial, operation.

Further to project support, IPDS can offer operational support of an existing process/plant including troubleshooting of existing plant operations and proposal of rectifications work to ensure plant compliance and sustainability.
